PJA Engineering are looking to recruit a geo-environmental engineer to join our land development team in the Longbridge, Birmingham office. This position is an excellent opportunity to be at the heart of an exciting and growing young business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the hands-on management and technical delivery of a range of geo-environmental projects on a wide variety of greenfield and brownfield development sites. They will be expected to have a good understanding of a range of geo-environmental and geotechnical issues and how they interact in a development context.

A strong background in site work is required including the designing, procuring and management of geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations. The candidate will have proficient analytical and interpretive reporting skills and will be supported to develop and enhance their technical knowledge.

The candidate will ideally have:

  • A degree in a relevant geo-environmental or geotechnical discipline.
  • Be Chartered or working towards Chartership.
  • Good knowledge of site investigation techniques, implementation and management.
  • Experience of writing geo-environmental interpretation reports including the formulation of conceptual site models and the preliminary assessment of human health and controlled water impacts.
  • Experience of assessing the geotechnical aspects of ground conditions including soil properties for preliminary foundation appraisals and earthworks design.
  • Understand the implications of waste legislation
  • Understanding of the wider engineering aspects of redevelopment, including the interactions of road infrastructure, ecology, topography, drainage and flooding
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience of meeting attendance to discuss issues with clients and project team members.
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework governing the assessment of contaminated land and water.
  • Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to maintain good records
  • Experience of contributing to in-house or client project teams, managing resources and delivering projects on time and to a budget
  • Ability to establish new client relationships to help develop and grow the business
  • A flair for problem solving
