Our client is a well-established and highly respected environment, planning and engineering consultancy. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant or Consultant Hydrologist to support the Glasgow or Edinburgh Water teams. Candidates will ideally have experience in hydrology, hydraulic modelling or flood risk within a consultancy or local authority environment.

You will join a friendly and vibrant multidisciplinary team of planners, ecologists, EIA consultants, hydrologists and engineers and be given training and full mentoring and support on your professional qualifications.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Provide hydrological and hydraulic modelling support for a range of flood risk studies across multiple sectors.
  • Undertake hydrological surveys, analysis and assessments
  • Preparation of flood risk assessments (FRA)
  • Liaise with other members of the team, clients and other project stakeholders
  • Prepare reports and proposals

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Degree/ Masters educated in a relevant discipline (e.g. Hydrology / Chemistry / Geography)
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with CIWEM or similar
  • Demonstrable experience within a consultancy or local authority environment
  • Keen interest in hydrological assessment, modelling and flood risk
  • Knowledge or relevant industry software (e.g. Info works RS, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS) is desirable
  • Good understanding of water related legislation and guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
