The British Geological Survey (BGS) is an applied geoscience research centre that is housed in UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and affiliated to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
BGS has an annual budget of approximately £60 million and employs 650 people. It has two main sites, a head office in Keyworth near Nottingham and the Lyell Centre, which is a collaboration with Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.
BGS has an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced scientist to assume the role of Senior Engineering Geologist based at our headquarters in Keyworth in Nottingham.
About the role
With proven scientific experience and a passion for Engineering Geology, your work will include:
- interpretation of geotechnical data
- attribution of 3D geological models with geotechnical data
- provide Engineering Geology expertise to feed into ground performance models
- knowledge of geotechnical laboratory testing
- to provide geotechnical expertise to external enquiries.
With an MSc or a PhD in Engineering Geology or a related subject, you will have at least five years post MSc experience working in the field of Engineering Geology, either as an academic or in industry.
You will be an enthusiastic team player, able to lead and contribute to our commercial and research-driven portfolio of work by securing new funding and collaborations
