Mineral exploration is the process of location mineral resources. Exploration typically uses geophysical, structural and petrological techniques and takes place all over the world.

Quarrying generally refers to industrial minerals, which are extracted in an unprocessed form. Resources such as limestone and aggregates are industrial minerals.
